T-shirt makers use many applications to describe their products. Terms are not always consistent and help to become a reference.
Below is a guide to Greenman t shirt manufacturing to understand T-shirt terminology:
20s, 20/1, 20s Single: unit of measurement for determining the thickness of feather thread. Standard sheets of single layer feathers consist of 840 yards of feather thread. If you need 20 sheets to weigh one pound, the thread feathers on this plate are called 20 or 20/1. If the weight of the plate is 30 pounds, then the thread of this plate is called 30 th feather thread or 30/1. If you need 40 sheets for a pound of weight, the thread on this plate is called the 40th wing or 40/1. Mostly made of thin threads, and thus thin, soft fabrics. 30’s and 40’s t-shirts are softer, thinner and better than 20’s t-shirts. Terms are used in many ways, but this number is considered. “20s”, “20/1”, “20s only” are the same. Threads can be tied into coarse threads. If two 20/1 wings are connected, it is called 20/2.
